Overview/Objective:
St. Joseph’s School (SJS) has produced many outstanding alumni who have used their education, God-given talents and experiences to become successful, positive contributors to society.
The formation of the SJS/SJC ALUMNI HALL OF HONOR, is an initiative of the SJS Alumni Association (SJSAA). It aims to inspire students of the now St. Joseph College (SJC) to take the positive path to life, by introducing them to role models who have left remarkable footprints for them to follow the St. Joseph’s School Alumni Association would like to honor SJS alumni by establishing an SJS/SJC Alumni Hall of Honor.
Alumni who meet the criteria set by the Alumni Awards Committee will be honored with a place in the Hall of Honor.
The culminating activity for this occasion will be an Awards Night during the Kapistahan ni San Jose held during the month of March of the year the awards will be given, at which the awardees will be honoured and inducted.
A permanent display of honorees will be established in the school halls so that young students may be able to learn about the accomplishments of these graduates and be inspired by their example.
Criteria and Process
The SJS/SJC Alumni Hall of Honor will confer the highest honor and recognition to the Distinguished Alumni of SJS/SJC.
To be qualified for nomination and selection, an “alumni” is any graduate of St. Joseph’s High School (or SJC High School Department), or any one who has attended at least two (2) years of secondary education at SJS/SJC High even though they did not graduate from SJS/SJC High.
There is no limit to the number of nominations and recipients of The Distinguished Alumni Award, so long as guidelines and standards of the Alumni Awards Committee are met.

Selection Criteria
The awards will be presented to alumni who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought credit to St. Joseph’s School/St. Joseph College in one or more of the following areas:
by distinguishing themselves in their careers/fields/endeavors;
in service to their communities;
through continued support of SJS/SJC.
Selection Process
Nominations must be submitted no later than January 31, 2008, with the awards to be presented on a date set by the Saint Joseph’s School Alumni Association. A nomination form may be obtained by contacting the Office of Alumni Relations or by using this link:
Any individual or group may submit a nomination for the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Nominations must be typed and must include the requested information on the nomination form.

SJS/SJC Alumni Awards Committee
The nominees will be notified of their nominations by the Office of Alumni Relations and will be given the opportunity to provide additional information within a time period to be set by the Alumni Awards Committee.
The selected recipients will be contacted by the SJSAA President and asked to accept the award. After acceptance, the recipient(s) will receive further information regarding the award presentation from the Office of Alumni Relations; and those who submitted nominations will receive notification of the award recipients.
In the event that a selected recipient cannot attend the awards presentation, acceptance may be made by any member of the honoree’s immediate family or any batch representative.
Posthumous awards shall be accepted by a member of the honoree's immediate family or by a batch representative.
Special Excellence Awards may be made at the discretion of the Alumni Awards Committee. ALL nominations received will be considered.
For example: Professional Excellence (e.g. leadership in professional associations), Excellence in Contribution to the Community (e.g. enhancing the arts, literacy, healthcare, poverty, mental health, equity, etc), Excellence in the Face of Adversity, Excellence in the Promotion of Indigenous Arts and Culture, etc. Other categories may be introduced by the Alumni Awards Committee..
Eligibility for Nomination
All high school graduates of Saint Joseph’s School and all those who attended SJS/SJC High School for at least two (2) years, are eligible candidates for the awards, whether they are presently living in the Philippines or overseas. Posthumous nominations may be submitted.
To be eligible for nomination, an alumni does not have to be working in the particular discipline from which he/she graduated.
Current officers & board members of the SJS Alumni Association and members of the SJS/SJC Alumni Awards Committee and their parents, spouse, children, siblings and first cousins are NOT eligible for the awards.
Permission must be obtained from the nominated alumnus before the screening of his/her nomination.
Nominations for the awards may be submitted by any alumnus of SJS/SJC or any individual or group of the wider community, anywhere in the Philippines or overseas.
Statements of Support
The nominator is encouraged to approach the nominee for additional information, particularly related to service to the community outside their professional area.
Nominations should be prepared with attention to detail, ensuring that all possible information on the nominee is included. Nominators should include information regarding why the nominee is exceptional.
